On to the next project

I finished the Halloween quilt and it is on our table. It fits perfectly! My husband really likes it. The Halloween cat pull toy was also made by us. For a few years we were making a lot of wooden things. He cut them out and I painted them.

Here is a wooden necklace that we made. The pumpkin is about 2 1/4 inches across and is on a velvet cord.

The top swings open to reveal the shapes inside. The shapes are about 3/4 inches in size. I never wear it because I am afraid of it opening up and having the shapes fall out and get lost.

Someday I should post the Noah’s ark that we made.

I am washing the Cherrywood fabrics for my next quilt. Since these are hand dyed fabrics a lot of dye comes out of them.

The Halloween quilt got me motivated to get creating again. I think I am going to make this a pretty good size.

We hung this mother daughter portrait that my daughter made in grade school. It was for Mother’s day. I framed it last summer to hang in my sewing room. Boy do we look alike in the sketch she made? We are going to visit her in Boston next weekend. We have not seen her since last Christmas. I am anxious to see her new place that she bought earlier this summer.

I think I might make it…

I am nearly finished with the Halloween quilt. All I have left to do is quilt the last border and add the binding.

I am thinking of getting some business cards from Vistaprint. I think they may come in handy at the art show as well as later on.

This is the design that I came up with. What do you think?

What a nice week

The weather was beautiful this week. The trees are in their fall colors and it was warm and sunny.

I did get the blocks for the center of the Halloween quilt sewn. Just need to sew them together and create a triangle border.

This is from a pattern that I found on All People Quilt by Becky Cogan for NEEDLLOVE.COM. The quilt has prairie points for the border, but since I do not like prairie points I will just make a triangle border.

Not sure I will get it finished in time for Halloween…we’ll see.

Found some more Halloween decorations that we made. Put this in front of the fireplace. Hope the our cat leaves the raffia alone. I think it is pretty tempting to chew on it for a cat.

loreena-mckennitt_04-20-15_7_553509ed738b1 We went to a Loreena McKennit  concert on Tuesday night in Reading, PA. We had great seats and it was wonderful. I have been wanting to see her for about 15 years.

Finally got our couch yesterday. So nice to have a good couch to sit on. So all in all a very good week!

Now to try to figure out what I want to sell some of my quilts for at the art show in November. I am thinking of selling the following quilts.

“Paris Rooftops” about 18 in by 24 in.

“Spiritual Sanctuary” about 24 in by 36 in.

“Forest Cathedral” about 14 in by 20 in.

“Orange Sky at Night” about 18 in by 24 in.

Any ideas of what one can realistically sell art quilts for?

Getting ready for Halloween

I decided to make a Halloween quilt to get myself back in the groove of quilting. I washed and ironed the fabrics this morning and will start cutting this afternoon.

We already have 2 Halloween quilts hung. The first is the one that is on my banner and the second one is a scrap quilt that hangs year round.

Trick or Treat1

Halloween scrap quilt

I pulled out some of our Halloween decorations. Some old Halloween cookie cutters on display.

The wooden house, ghosts and cat were cut out by my husband and painted by me. We have a few antique pumpkins.

The pumpkin bag was painted by my daughter when she was really young. I think it could have been preschool.

A few more decorations to get out and we will be in the Halloween spirit in our new house!

Lots going on….maybe

I did get the curtains hemmed.

In our living room…. Yes we got a big TV hung by the Geek Squad. My husband thought about doing it, but I convinced him to let the professionals do it.

In our bedroom….

I sewed a sleeve on the bottom of this gees bend quilt that I made years ago to keep it hanging flat. I have been meaning to do it for several years…finally done.  I have a few more antique bears that are still packed somewhere. I hate not knowing where they are and not having everything in place…

New arrangement of energy series. Sheila recommended that I move the blue one toward the center. I think I have to leave one turbine quilt out. Plus it was bound rather than faced. Is this arrangement better?

I have been rethinking what I will work on when I finally can get back to working. Now I am thinking about the blue abstract that I designed earlier this year in EB’s class.

purpleoverlaychopped2blue

I was going to dye the blues, but not so sure how that will work in my current very small laundry room.

L.Indigo I am thinking of buying hand dyed fabrics from Cherrywood fabrics to make it. I am thinking about the light to indigo gradation. I think I will buy black from them as well. Do you think a gradation of 8 will work for this?

After not being creative for so long I am finding it hard to get back into making something. I hope to get out of my slump soon.

Linking to Off the Wall Friday.
