Quilting idea

While I am waiting for my machine to come back from a much needed tuneup I have been thinking about how I am going to quilt "Sunlight in the forest." So I think I have decided on radiating lines coming out of the upper left corner where the sunlight enters the forest. On top of those radiating lines I think I will quilt gentle curves.

I have gone though my thread stash and found the light medium green for the quilting. It is one of the nature colors by Superior threads. This one seems to work well across all the values in the quilt.

I bought my backing fabric and will be ready to quilt as soon as my machine comes back.

Thanks for reading.

  1. Umm...while I think I understand what you're trying to express...on screen, the thread lines seem...um...rather "loud". Sunlight is very subtle... Just a thought...

  2. Yes, I definitely felt your pixelated image needed some interesting quilting on it. I like this idea of the streaming light. My only other thought was on the lines of thread sketching - of trees since this is your forest quilt. Done in a dark value but perhaps not starkly so. This quilt seems to be all about subtleness, so less will be more. I think the sun rays will be sufficient.
