It’s 18 in by 18 inches and mainly constructed of my husbands recycled jeans. The moon and stars are cut from painted used dryer sheets. They were in my stash and already painted. My supply is low for these dryer sheets since we quilt using them a long while ago. I use wool dryer balls now. Dryer sheets are not really environmentally friendly. </p><p>Here’s the finished piece. I’ve decided to try to sell it at the recycle show in April for $195. The area I live in doesn’t really bring huge prices for art work. I hope it sells.</p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJ16bCXDmTAWT5zqWMGd7VmB-TYCXtEJNVIK-ZNVyhkkBiPNubppNmJcwKXZqe_xugiV_fkJ0CsCUhUmlm0-NUKuDRfS5VS0K4_pMT285qp5W7szzWJ63CK2e4K2DhIScLQ_9dFb07aEc4pCIqk-mMCWQ-rGz5s-4kBHk-u65_AmpUGe0guHqDS5XWk1mF/s1787/IMG_5161.jpeg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1787" data-original-width="1738" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJ16bCXDmTAWT5zqWMGd7VmB-TYCXtEJNVIK-ZNVyhkkBiPNubppNmJcwKXZqe_xugiV_fkJ0CsCUhUmlm0-NUKuDRfS5VS0K4_pMT285qp5W7szzWJ63CK2e4K2DhIScLQ_9dFb07aEc4pCIqk-mMCWQ-rGz5s-4kBHk-u65_AmpUGe0guHqDS5XWk1mF/w389-h400/IMG_5161.jpeg" width="389" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span face="-apple-system, helveticaneue" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-size: 16px; text-align: start;">Description: The pack is on the move. I decided that my idea for my recycle piece was not working. The ghostly figures just looked weird and it was kinda copying from the exhibit where I took the photo. So I’ve abandoned that idea. </p><p>So now what??? I’ve decided to do a forest at night with some moonlight coming in and add stars floating in the forest. I don’t think I will add any ghostly figures, but I can always decide that later.</p><p>I did get trees sewn down. This whole process would have been easier if the jeans I had from my husband were different values. Unfortunately they are basically stone washed jeans and all pretty light in value. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp8ts3iaL-yRiHHdZSMiJT0wOKmJXyF1kF9B1vCS74hT05-aA7p1pac_yxrd4hk_3BaLe0cadOB5CmSCxliqEC90W7Tj7GY9QThCsTMmbLGRORT-EUkaynZMHfVwmmGigMsKAE2xUFi4gS5mfoXUq1yGJ8eHbW3CZ0MZ3SyCpV07FrojuGjlTh3Bnr_MrC/s2332/IMG_1830.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2332" data-original-width="2332" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp8ts3iaL-yRiHHdZSMiJT0wOKmJXyF1kF9B1vCS74hT05-aA7p1pac_yxrd4hk_3BaLe0cadOB5CmSCxliqEC90W7Tj7GY9QThCsTMmbLGRORT-EUkaynZMHfVwmmGigMsKAE2xUFi4gS5mfoXUq1yGJ8eHbW3CZ0MZ3SyCpV07FrojuGjlTh3Bnr_MrC/w400-h400/IMG_1830.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>I did try painting pieces of jean fabric this week with what I thought was going to be my color scheme. I’ve now decided that since the jeans are basically a blue gray I should stick with a blue gray palette instead of a royal blue palette. I was going to make the moonlight on the left hand side, but seeing how light the jeans are on the right side it might make more sense to do that on the right side.</p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjATxK3zTBd1okP9Xzi_-qX_yTGhEB8lRr5rBjW_jSsh-GAKlaHbafRAzVtVNsq6q_fShnhYI2aUmGf57gEZsZJ1KYir76mYO0CCL7ZabFh8Mb4UT2xnUbfPOV3EvEM_87Fi16euMLJrpfMEeR8mOBZu7QPA5XJSb0zVGKzcoktcO1RoIK15x2Zqdt8vECg/s2695/IMG_1835.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1060" data-original-width="2695" height="158" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjATxK3zTBd1okP9Xzi_-qX_yTGhEB8lRr5rBjW_jSsh-GAKlaHbafRAzVtVNsq6q_fShnhYI2aUmGf57gEZsZJ1KYir76mYO0CCL7ZabFh8Mb4UT2xnUbfPOV3EvEM_87Fi16euMLJrpfMEeR8mOBZu7QPA5XJSb0zVGKzcoktcO1RoIK15x2Zqdt8vECg/w400-h158/IMG_1835.jpeg" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Painted denim</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzbmWmZCpqX2o952vIkl7eWbQDw6ZwT9GLPcJARMFJwVDA-H9TY0tBNTbMIbkrtiE3IJxtCX5_rFmAU1sykM3e3mGfktwslCGKd9cy9-rI_8Bhrkww18psJvWMTDpo2Fn6pxK1iwK3g891k5ulJv1WDhqFZcD1JaWAXmlsK-VvMhHQhiz4JO_mxSSO7lnS/s1561/IMG_5099.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="289" data-original-width="1561" height="74" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzbmWmZCpqX2o952vIkl7eWbQDw6ZwT9GLPcJARMFJwVDA-H9TY0tBNTbMIbkrtiE3IJxtCX5_rFmAU1sykM3e3mGfktwslCGKd9cy9-rI_8Bhrkww18psJvWMTDpo2Fn6pxK1iwK3g891k5ulJv1WDhqFZcD1JaWAXmlsK-VvMhHQhiz4JO_mxSSO7lnS/w400-h74/IMG_5099.jpeg" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Gray blue color palette</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><p>I really went off the rails this week which usually happens when I’m struggling. As you can see from the inspiration photo there is lots of green stuff in this forest.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKVpftNGdZUXXN1K_aJ05i3wrcOSdisfx73-jflitiy52TUMuEhZUT5WuuK8e0xIxZCT0x7py3e7sxOX4wfnoR26F0OfwCf-neqh9psy78AP-_SKI_jjAE50d5eysln5lTDJED8sVvKIBAPY8ya-EnSIe5JwancBLUZOtIahwk7OcrITvU07SnM-fFCHOL/s1085/IMG_4884.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1085" data-original-width="1085" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKVpftNGdZUXXN1K_aJ05i3wrcOSdisfx73-jflitiy52TUMuEhZUT5WuuK8e0xIxZCT0x7py3e7sxOX4wfnoR26F0OfwCf-neqh9psy78AP-_SKI_jjAE50d5eysln5lTDJED8sVvKIBAPY8ya-EnSIe5JwancBLUZOtIahwk7OcrITvU07SnM-fFCHOL/w400-h400/IMG_4884.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br /> So I’ve auditioned a few ideas, but don’t know which way to go.<p></p><div>I’ve tried cutting fern like stuff. It’s both tedious as well as it has me worrying how they will,be able to be stitched down with all those sharp points. So far I’ve only cut a few. I would need at least 100.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYciIrvsQR6mwsAiptSA-yJUAuN8kQoAzv-6pF56UXl0J-uR_SDzOINGXP7bfc76C5fM1OfZENFVxDmN3RsUwP3omo_zV16rtjbKDVd_itqjj4ppfLf92PICd5HwIxlrBUXoby7mb0AydUEv17CojFc8vSUULkYcFmwHKQI-dSqiveiQHnczgy-nISjiSs/s2755/IMG_1815.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2755" data-original-width="2716" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYciIrvsQR6mwsAiptSA-yJUAuN8kQoAzv-6pF56UXl0J-uR_SDzOINGXP7bfc76C5fM1OfZENFVxDmN3RsUwP3omo_zV16rtjbKDVd_itqjj4ppfLf92PICd5HwIxlrBUXoby7mb0AydUEv17CojFc8vSUULkYcFmwHKQI-dSqiveiQHnczgy-nISjiSs/w394-h400/IMG_1815.jpeg" width="394" /></a></div><br /><div>Then I thought about small blobs to create the texture. Every time I take a photo I see something that looks weird. Of course this still has to be painted dark blue so it’s going to look strange until I do that. The really light colored jeans really stick out. I’m also debating whether or not I should incorporate some of the Levi labels from my husbands jeans. I think I would have to give them a blue touch or they will really stick out. The labels are brown paper. </p><p>I will think on this for a while. Happy Valentine’s Day.</p><p>Thanks for reading.</p><p>Chris</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheOqqg9Ctt3Jeelx3nsrHd32Pszl49MI8zKDLSG_6NzEFny2cF-VuE4lSl_YP-c2jL7RqHuBuJEpaPrBcUuSJ6bq-8nIy4NW4z0syy2k00TKz1cGSdOYwhhUPMYTX9zdJZin00CaPrJaGJRkaxw1T6mRGYbY4ORcoNMFqwE8EVcAYkRbUGU_7dNw8z9uxj/s2571/IMG_1814.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2538" data-original-width="2571" height="395" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheOqqg9Ctt3Jeelx3nsrHd32Pszl49MI8zKDLSG_6NzEFny2cF-VuE4lSl_YP-c2jL7RqHuBuJEpaPrBcUuSJ6bq-8nIy4NW4z0syy2k00TKz1cGSdOYwhhUPMYTX9zdJZin00CaPrJaGJRkaxw1T6mRGYbY4ORcoNMFqwE8EVcAYkRbUGU_7dNw8z9uxj/w400-h395/IMG_1814.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p><br /></p>Christine Staverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15411569621417693487noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5009154046558751404.post-21053832990027868562024-02-13T09:58:00.002-05:002024-02-13T10:48:38.804-05:00I’m not crazy about selfies! This week our photo challenge was selfies. I don’t take them. My husband loves taking them, but I don’t. When he takes a selfie of him and I it usually is not good due to our height differential. I’m 5’4” and he’s 6’4”. I tried to take a selfie of myself and my cat. The cat kept head butting me so that’s the shot that I used. I put the photo in an app called Mobile Monet and submitted it. Heck I don’t even like my photo taken at all! I think that’s why I’m submitting the selfie with the cat covering my face…..<div><br /></div><div>I also did the first try at foliage for the denim recycle piece. I already see things I would change. I’m not sure if the ghosts are blue enough. I might have to give them a touch more blue paint. Maybe they will read better once I paint the quilt dark blue. At any rate I’m getting there. And yes that is an owl in the tree. Lace Flower noticed it last week. I would use French knots to give him glowing eyes. </div><div><br /></div><div>How do you feel about selfies? Do you take them a lot?</div><div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibWS6CsX7veef6yMeQ1MWkwVM4PCwYbWR_ro-d984WyuM5Zxs1MDNbvsZv6fuBQvAe1iey25usNDuVwvgHcbA3uOmKpxHaGV4uh2BWPtPrcnBdVI7uuHDoTeYkUpbvDQkCLg0oMxUTfLS4K_CXKp-KalJRtfkLA7lPUtWyeduIyOkhn1Y57Ir-xvjfWws-/s1661/IMG_5030.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1661" data-original-width="1661" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibWS6CsX7veef6yMeQ1MWkwVM4PCwYbWR_ro-d984WyuM5Zxs1MDNbvsZv6fuBQvAe1iey25usNDuVwvgHcbA3uOmKpxHaGV4uh2BWPtPrcnBdVI7uuHDoTeYkUpbvDQkCLg0oMxUTfLS4K_CXKp-KalJRtfkLA7lPUtWyeduIyOkhn1Y57Ir-xvjfWws-/w400-h400/IMG_5030.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5bVSSQlBGuCmz1SpA34tSa5yiAloASC-e6-ReC9bbqQH4ArGZBR1ioagU1IZJ7A54xy6gl8numVokM4G7Ec79rXU-jcRPBvQmcIwOPpd_xiZqZk8Tkr_IOvT9pKhf8pJdSVVQH2Hcf3TdVl9-AwWENHuJmG-Nd5NSMvn7x8P1QM75d3F-mkYohgG4xs7c/s2048/IMG_5036.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5bVSSQlBGuCmz1SpA34tSa5yiAloASC-e6-ReC9bbqQH4ArGZBR1ioagU1IZJ7A54xy6gl8numVokM4G7Ec79rXU-jcRPBvQmcIwOPpd_xiZqZk8Tkr_IOvT9pKhf8pJdSVVQH2Hcf3TdVl9-AwWENHuJmG-Nd5NSMvn7x8P1QM75d3F-mkYohgG4xs7c/w400-h300/IMG_5036.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div>Thanks for reading.</div><div>Chris<br /><div><br /></div></div>Christine Staverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15411569621417693487noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5009154046558751404.post-61023424854086905472024-02-08T07:49:00.002-05:002024-02-08T07:49:31.347-05:00Stage one<p>I’ve pieced the background of my denim recycle piece and added the trees. My husband only had stone washed jeans so I have dark blue paint to turn this into a night scene. Since I plan on adding the lightning bugs this has to be a night scene and a summer scene. So that’s why I have to paint the denim dark blue and I still have to add foliage to the trees. Can’t have bare trees in the summer. This is just the beginning of the process. It did feel good to get back into the sewing room and work on something after taking time off. </p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9Q8-JFlmKHUUMJzhPcA3B1XGQie2ARfojp7c2FGOZRGAvSPOeYIkBtdJHNSbjCT6Ep9GMB71pqd-qii73A8h05uhrCxQ_OQ-JnQbjMQo09yY650hJigd3ffYnQEJ9ZerDsFg0AjEkU57AvrrPe6zfkjKDovzloRn6m-7jkmYvmKN3xe1RlLRXt0pbgeWy/s2746/IMG_1765.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2746" data-original-width="2710" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9Q8-JFlmKHUUMJzhPcA3B1XGQie2ARfojp7c2FGOZRGAvSPOeYIkBtdJHNSbjCT6Ep9GMB71pqd-qii73A8h05uhrCxQ_OQ-JnQbjMQo09yY650hJigd3ffYnQEJ9ZerDsFg0AjEkU57AvrrPe6zfkjKDovzloRn6m-7jkmYvmKN3xe1RlLRXt0pbgeWy/w395-h400/IMG_1765.jpeg" width="395" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Pile of cut up jeans</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwTR7fJioPMMVL5Lh4WjArNp567RxQFqVHjA_nvvT13CGxSrlaVz3EhhQGaot-K_qmIB2X-poaQXVoc1aOqsRpNkD7Md-y6zQqtsR85zZRhnAF6SqUczLxKylsWaDx6ZqqVXJWDpQac55rgsPSB4Il8LBz9SMmfbfnh3QzcwEzvhzJ1s8N9UJI6I4_FaUW/s4032/IMG_1767.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwTR7fJioPMMVL5Lh4WjArNp567RxQFqVHjA_nvvT13CGxSrlaVz3EhhQGaot-K_qmIB2X-poaQXVoc1aOqsRpNkD7Md-y6zQqtsR85zZRhnAF6SqUczLxKylsWaDx6ZqqVXJWDpQac55rgsPSB4Il8LBz9SMmfbfnh3QzcwEzvhzJ1s8N9UJI6I4_FaUW/w400-h300/IMG_1767.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikL4Sv5zbjr8j7uvXpUF2p6L_FATeKx8YHcBiE9zQ17gquTPslXg1gn_PkY2LKbYadXHJP73I1p8EOh3LUQkqDE6Tj6VfflsLVRLZLQhkOTbOKH1N5No4dxqVsS3V3posBYtDMWmfSFhPyd77JMQDhph7BEKTEzK3c9Y8agLTlmBeFNqBHdvJPEcdBl8nV/s4032/IMG_1768.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikL4Sv5zbjr8j7uvXpUF2p6L_FATeKx8YHcBiE9zQ17gquTPslXg1gn_PkY2LKbYadXHJP73I1p8EOh3LUQkqDE6Tj6VfflsLVRLZLQhkOTbOKH1N5No4dxqVsS3V3posBYtDMWmfSFhPyd77JMQDhph7BEKTEzK3c9Y8agLTlmBeFNqBHdvJPEcdBl8nV/w400-h300/IMG_1768.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>So now onto adding the foliage, sewing the pieces in place and then painting. I had never used the portrait setting on the iPhone when taking a photo. So it was great learning about what it will do. I took a photo of our cat, Chowder, using the stage spotlight mono setting for portraits. I then edited it square and use a tiny bit of a filter in Prisma. Here’s the result that I already posted to the class. I love the dramatic effect that a black and white photo has.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzyYsJTVPxg0LRupTEp9OC9DuWfUV7-HB1JWO1M-cPGhzhen1CXHHR4eO8sxKTYsgW4SPyBaMvResyVc1HlQfv4D7S2D14oo51j8P5JaSsOVXGGgHzkNSVHsR_d7kvaAt24u0_DVKjGfOYfghNwr5_Z8Xtjx1H0uTvWxyywbT0C35vVmpqUoi0j-TmW-hl/s1280/IMG_1760.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1280" data-original-width="1280" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzyYsJTVPxg0LRupTEp9OC9DuWfUV7-HB1JWO1M-cPGhzhen1CXHHR4eO8sxKTYsgW4SPyBaMvResyVc1HlQfv4D7S2D14oo51j8P5JaSsOVXGGgHzkNSVHsR_d7kvaAt24u0_DVKjGfOYfghNwr5_Z8Xtjx1H0uTvWxyywbT0C35vVmpqUoi0j-TmW-hl/w400-h400/IMG_1760.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><p>I baked bread in my Emile Henry ceramic baker last Friday. I’m never a person to jump right in without thinking about how I plan on doing it. The theme this year is Dreamworld. So I decided to work with a photo of an art exhibit that we had seen several years ago.</p><p>Here’s the original photo….ghosts in a forest.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicYgmFJ0USgD8H4TB2nOo9a0a3d9okmbCjB-smoC-f60wDWLOA2jYv74FtKC1b3BXXfvUAAC3-BPYKc0xd5WqiYNrdESW77U0y4VFXpMRV9YmqkOSZjCoaRBHrYNeOWeSVgmPgejxZ7upfFdFqm-04MU4fp9utZ60tCcQV51shA764xDn26g5bFjEeUSb0/s4032/IMG_0050.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicYgmFJ0USgD8H4TB2nOo9a0a3d9okmbCjB-smoC-f60wDWLOA2jYv74FtKC1b3BXXfvUAAC3-BPYKc0xd5WqiYNrdESW77U0y4VFXpMRV9YmqkOSZjCoaRBHrYNeOWeSVgmPgejxZ7upfFdFqm-04MU4fp9utZ60tCcQV51shA764xDn26g5bFjEeUSb0/w400-h300/IMG_0050.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>For some reason I wanted to use lightning bugs (fireflies) because they seemed very dream like from my childhood. So that means it has to be a night scene. Plus I wanted to use my husband’s used worn out jeans so that means it has to be blue. So I edited the photo. The orientation and sizes of the ghosts are still up for debate.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYGcbWo2JhBhG7uAL1GyTxgoPj0oovO3uG53k1iC3BPOemHaYOCM81Yweu_kYPCL8wRwxvIHed4CVfnJ_p7FE4bSeq3sD-OwBp-B27ZahE1CuXcPs1Eryrx84DIKJ3qt7a6Pb1dENy6rNU9F0CzwgPLzZ5GSKoMr1oUffkGa22VKn2DrJF4jeGf-SsnBJp/s1085/IMG_4884.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1085" data-original-width="1085" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYGcbWo2JhBhG7uAL1GyTxgoPj0oovO3uG53k1iC3BPOemHaYOCM81Yweu_kYPCL8wRwxvIHed4CVfnJ_p7FE4bSeq3sD-OwBp-B27ZahE1CuXcPs1Eryrx84DIKJ3qt7a6Pb1dENy6rNU9F0CzwgPLzZ5GSKoMr1oUffkGa22VKn2DrJF4jeGf-SsnBJp/w400-h400/IMG_4884.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>I edited it as a square because I have a used square 18 by 18 canvas from a failed project to use to mount it. </div><div><br /></div><div>I’ve done a rough sketch to use as a pattern. That means I have to try out paint colors to paint the dark stuff like the tree trunks. I started trying that out. I think I will have to add some black to my blue paints to get the dark nearly black trees.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgg2hIvR5mjh6Jzcdi71naZoleX5lqtEXSkwKoCIRePy2_wRB6xu0TVLLEg51qz2qcrO7AaqQ_cCE0-yhMX2srnRwOxEjS_9CwXJ44_Dq5WLPIbuCL_BTGOQQ0W1EF6bJXCUzmqKxunCE88XfhaovgY5SvjMu8nFGx28BZtcxWPjdY9oQF9CknEDPXn9zvu/s4032/IMG_1716.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgg2hIvR5mjh6Jzcdi71naZoleX5lqtEXSkwKoCIRePy2_wRB6xu0TVLLEg51qz2qcrO7AaqQ_cCE0-yhMX2srnRwOxEjS_9CwXJ44_Dq5WLPIbuCL_BTGOQQ0W1EF6bJXCUzmqKxunCE88XfhaovgY5SvjMu8nFGx28BZtcxWPjdY9oQF9CknEDPXn9zvu/w300-h400/IMG_1716.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><div><br /></div>Of course the next question is when to paint them….before I cut them or after they are sewn in place? Natalya (the person I’ve taken all the recycle classes from) suggested that I paint after they are sewn in place. <div><br /></div><div>The ghosts will be made from used dryer sheets and I will paint them with a transparent paint like Setacolor before cutting them out. They need to be semitransparent and made of a recycled material. </div><div><br /></div><div>So I think the plan is to create a background from the jeans, add in the trees and foliage, sew things in place, paint where it needs to be painted, add in the ghosts, stitch the ghosts, and then add in the lighting bugs. The lightning bugs will be French knots. The entire piece will be put on a pellon stabilizer then adhered to the canvas. This stabilizer is like a stiff batting and will give a quilted look to the piece. I think I will sponge paint the background and foliage to get a better effect than using a brush. I found a page that had a photo of sheep and placed my sheep so he looked like he was coming out of the page. I thought maybe the 3D effect of the felted sheep would be good. I think it was essential to have very low light and shadows for this photo so I used the candle again. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvCx5Ts9MfAmyux45KlhXJRsWbX4NSPAAjPp6OhYXEaj7uhtzLtFZBx7CrcfM4P1MRtNNTafr0_IwWnHnoLrdC59f320_5D3To3le8N_FHJ43QTbpS6_AmfO6nu0Ces643v9tRPl4Vclct-ioT927afgC_Pnbil8PXEOWu1jytm1FXs072oJOgA6WMRwji/s2100/IMG_1533.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1576" data-original-width="2100" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvCx5Ts9MfAmyux45KlhXJRsWbX4NSPAAjPp6OhYXEaj7uhtzLtFZBx7CrcfM4P1MRtNNTafr0_IwWnHnoLrdC59f320_5D3To3le8N_FHJ43QTbpS6_AmfO6nu0Ces643v9tRPl4Vclct-ioT927afgC_Pnbil8PXEOWu1jytm1FXs072oJOgA6WMRwji/w400-h300/IMG_1533.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p>I also tried out a Beetles book with some Christmas lights. Seems that I never go around to making it. Finally in December I decided to get it out and make it. I finished it today. It turned out cute, but the directions were a bit too vague for my taste. Dimensions were never given. I would have been happier if the directions would have said what size the head or body or ears should be. It was also vague about how to pull apart the dark curly wool. I guess it’s too bad that my MIL never got to see the finished sheep. Maybe I should name it after her.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhe5VhUuN9MYeUQqFynWxN5cSpO6lW_5gBjSf-8FLH-KnKU6hQyD2L8EsYqS3OulOi1z2nlPqELOZdfgmI_K__Rb-NfHbxVXavVeK90zm9JR5AoVF8FcKDBR-HTFC4vLEEQ_PJRWkEBybx3hC2OfMBCwHCXHSizNVteUe_vhVcReYxm129gBNcaguf1HC2o/s4032/IMG_1520.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhe5VhUuN9MYeUQqFynWxN5cSpO6lW_5gBjSf-8FLH-KnKU6hQyD2L8EsYqS3OulOi1z2nlPqELOZdfgmI_K__Rb-NfHbxVXavVeK90zm9JR5AoVF8FcKDBR-HTFC4vLEEQ_PJRWkEBybx3hC2OfMBCwHCXHSizNVteUe_vhVcReYxm129gBNcaguf1HC2o/w400-h300/IMG_1520.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><div><br /></div>The new photo challenge is to take a photograph of a book or books. This is the photo and below it are his comments. His comments have a black background because of the website. There are about 50 students in the class and he picks 10 photos to comment on.</p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhznS_mInpP46fJipZDu24Cxom6FyLkX_d2WNk_xOmdpZ9TsyET_G3OiFQZ66AoTU2OXWYjnz9YCPATqE0tljUatE1A8cyFT09bV3AWnqSkEHclZrTmuufc4GOd4eBNz2YUWF1J1_yOsPuBJc8TcfNJa7E8cLLmbPrysyyE1Jt1r35M2labe7DhOth9Vy9k/s4032/IMG_1301.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhznS_mInpP46fJipZDu24Cxom6FyLkX_d2WNk_xOmdpZ9TsyET_G3OiFQZ66AoTU2OXWYjnz9YCPATqE0tljUatE1A8cyFT09bV3AWnqSkEHclZrTmuufc4GOd4eBNz2YUWF1J1_yOsPuBJc8TcfNJa7E8cLLmbPrysyyE1Jt1r35M2labe7DhOth9Vy9k/w400-h300/IMG_1301.jpeg" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Evolving sky</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><h1 style="text-align: left;"><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: #17171a; caret-color: rgb(135, 135, 148); color: #878794; font-size: 14px;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">Selected for comment: As a vantage point, we are low and the heavens are high - but giving just a bit of the roofs and trees, we connect with the glorious - evolving clouds. I'm doubtful anyone has seen this porch from this vantage point, at least not more than once in a blue moon. We connect with the architectural design! This way she will have something to remember her by when she wears the skirt. Her grandmother used to quilt and this was one of her left over backing fabrics.<div><br /></div><div>The photo lesson this week is LANDSCAPE. I have a couple to pick from so far. The rule is it has to be focused on landscape even if there are animals in the photo. So I’m not sure of the shore photo with the birds. The second one is showing all the dead vegetation this time of year and the mountains in the background. Central Pennsylvania is beautiful. The third one is a stream near us. Today it it snowing so maybe a snow landscape would be nice. I have until Sunday night to submit a photo. I do like the shore birds. One is a great blue heron and the other an egret. Nice reflections, too. This week we get to put the photos in a filter called Distressed FX. I haven’t done that yet.</div><div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSJhyplZA-bdbGt8pw1XHw8terb2KM3CLsdYdrDmjr07gnPENAOmHCCWD7OcrimBP56X3YX4uJICqr1Mdk56mlbLC-e-YtCr1EXNdRXIjZj_kh7JEPLsgn20JmIfop3XJBX8DvYWopoEntbKTY9O0b-nv9ffDNgm7pBFWl5XHTPteaKxEXoNuFWixYEe9n/s4032/IMG_1367.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSJhyplZA-bdbGt8pw1XHw8terb2KM3CLsdYdrDmjr07gnPENAOmHCCWD7OcrimBP56X3YX4uJICqr1Mdk56mlbLC-e-YtCr1EXNdRXIjZj_kh7JEPLsgn20JmIfop3XJBX8DvYWopoEntbKTY9O0b-nv9ffDNgm7pBFWl5XHTPteaKxEXoNuFWixYEe9n/w400-h300/IMG_1367.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSR7gMekfCQRA7ZhcYuDwYBKJ7uhYv99rhyqKRXL7KSq241fQwbP3uiihbq9EehHQv82fgUDfRcjXdv1g4wRT6yrmYLKXAhxYXjFrWrfUgz3KvFYGzOMoVafIWSwCUmgH5e_y05e_fmuJzNrl1QqzPSi7s9NZIu2eAqXjKdSGOjg0tObjn_tyJaB_Gyqyz/s4032/IMG_1402.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSR7gMekfCQRA7ZhcYuDwYBKJ7uhYv99rhyqKRXL7KSq241fQwbP3uiihbq9EehHQv82fgUDfRcjXdv1g4wRT6yrmYLKXAhxYXjFrWrfUgz3KvFYGzOMoVafIWSwCUmgH5e_y05e_fmuJzNrl1QqzPSi7s9NZIu2eAqXjKdSGOjg0tObjn_tyJaB_Gyqyz/w400-h300/IMG_1402.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5-QgvwCsUd4K4BCldrOoswHWTS85zyR1S6LN7RiK_n590k-XFfEOPR3SHiYuyTNCiWpstiEbUrLF5w0yzkvhefgQxJ5a08KLsBJl6WhafiTOA-XWG2ZTLKuInk6Zp2TVEZ5nrLl_Wn_9L9GBm7ikb_eTrV_kJFE9_d3w10coff1wew4XocmscVDfM7FAD/s4032/IMG_1406.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5-QgvwCsUd4K4BCldrOoswHWTS85zyR1S6LN7RiK_n590k-XFfEOPR3SHiYuyTNCiWpstiEbUrLF5w0yzkvhefgQxJ5a08KLsBJl6WhafiTOA-XWG2ZTLKuInk6Zp2TVEZ5nrLl_Wn_9L9GBm7ikb_eTrV_kJFE9_d3w10coff1wew4XocmscVDfM7FAD/w400-h300/IMG_1406.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><div><br /></div>Thanks for reading.</div><div>Chris<br /><div><br /></div><div><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: #17171a; caret-color: rgb(135, 135, 148); color: #878794; font-family: Raleway, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;"><br /></span></div></div>Christine Staverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15411569621417693487noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5009154046558751404.post-15487204795543570932024-01-10T06:49:00.004-05:002024-01-10T09:08:33.543-05:00The beginning of a new yearI have been stalled out in terms of creating anything since Christmas. I think it’s because I was making so many things before Christmas that I’m a little burned out. The other is that my MIL died right before Christmas. She was diagnosed with cancer in November and it progressed very fast. She was 95 1/2 years old. We will miss her. <div><br /></div><div>We did manage to get up to Salem, Mass to be with our daughter. She loved all the gifts that I made for her…the owl ornaments, the embroidered beret, the witch gnome, and the quilt of their house. We had a lovely time with her. </div><div><br /></div><div>I even had a hard time coming up with what I wanted for Christmas. I settled on a year of ancestry and a smart phone photo class with Ricky Tims. Both have been great. I received an Emile Henry large loaf ceramic baker from my daughter. I made this no knead everything artisan bread in it the other day. Oh my it was good.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2uB1evUh9d7thfANUJhuW89siVJEonzzM4oTb6ZbyIBrNjw9vsLUe8hKGc0udHEJWbu6M96oj98FaE50ySWYRcZAdTHXPV34f3Bva9ARXACWbNzX-jD1fCbmvr5VaznXRI-oj5XbFaz8zRB9fLZsHjzarJUgKPDNv0PAooZZWKQJoVIccuS6cktdB5Xmm/s4032/IMG_1309.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2uB1evUh9d7thfANUJhuW89siVJEonzzM4oTb6ZbyIBrNjw9vsLUe8hKGc0udHEJWbu6M96oj98FaE50ySWYRcZAdTHXPV34f3Bva9ARXACWbNzX-jD1fCbmvr5VaznXRI-oj5XbFaz8zRB9fLZsHjzarJUgKPDNv0PAooZZWKQJoVIccuS6cktdB5Xmm/w400-h300/IMG_1309.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div>We have had 2 challenges in the smart phone photo class so far. This is what I said about it. These are clouds outside my house this morning. I want to evolve this year in my art quilting and try some new things. The sky in my photo is only a snapshot in time. The clouds change and evolve with the weather systems. The sky an hour later than my photo was completely different. The clouds change and evolve into something completely new. I love the texture and the grayscale of the clouds. What a sky!! Of course maybe I should have picked FINISH as my word since I have several things to finish!!</div><div><br /></div><div>The second challenge was to take a photo from a vantage point that is not straight on and at normal eye level. Here’s my photo. Of course it’s a building!</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnlF8PBOITuaQMeNb2ON_SvhuK1O7rgEB9DZtVYsedprlyysAZs7ePtOQnrwynYr-kG58hG9KqKcpd8RTTTf_28FXpD1zUMXhp9YAyW0A0IQLc3s9djF1b6Fd3JEQZKJatDswUHifnvfwJUWNgqxrcxU16LVCFLSOMFltNc_XQP4lznbVDFExUkSIOSLWZ/s4032/IMG_1355.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnlF8PBOITuaQMeNb2ON_SvhuK1O7rgEB9DZtVYsedprlyysAZs7ePtOQnrwynYr-kG58hG9KqKcpd8RTTTf_28FXpD1zUMXhp9YAyW0A0IQLc3s9djF1b6Fd3JEQZKJatDswUHifnvfwJUWNgqxrcxU16LVCFLSOMFltNc_XQP4lznbVDFExUkSIOSLWZ/w300-h400/IMG_1355.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><div>This is an old house on my walk. The photo was taken from the left and about half way up. Some of things in the photo like the swing are seen from above and others like the spindles are seen from below. There is definitely a vanishing point on the right hand side. I took other photos for this challenge, but we can only submit one. Here are the others. The window is in my house looking up and out after a snowstorm. The others are looking up at trees with snow on them.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8KdaNKXngCB0xIcjz3QLxQA6I5ygCQ1kkVuoUaZgCvryg9OpuuGFwJWuJq9ZLtwJlJtIhruQ3Ht-VKA5WmQhHNtHX3n1JvdB6QnoMFzupoMAcx6j3PAGWliRVslNg6QD-YI09y4jEseG0R1WmdhWEgFfksIE-BBSdFp_VnxdDcuazcKJ67uE_30g7OcEp/s4032/IMG_1313.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8KdaNKXngCB0xIcjz3QLxQA6I5ygCQ1kkVuoUaZgCvryg9OpuuGFwJWuJq9ZLtwJlJtIhruQ3Ht-VKA5WmQhHNtHX3n1JvdB6QnoMFzupoMAcx6j3PAGWliRVslNg6QD-YI09y4jEseG0R1WmdhWEgFfksIE-BBSdFp_VnxdDcuazcKJ67uE_30g7OcEp/w300-h400/IMG_1313.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9iMuA3U54I8UNwf0t3MwV-Z4WiTkBwYgqMnWTsqkrv0fqM7sU_jP7GwyHnEV_Zevr-JxZrEYue66evxt39_a7gpAOB6aNaMy-MtqV29gQXBWgIlM__eS14taBkSqRpWqLl2YE9cW5VvvuqDmv7DAENPc2VvwfkgutN-Ib1xiRZYtk0cK04Sqeyp507B28/s3060/IMG_1317.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2642" data-original-width="3060" height="345" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9iMuA3U54I8UNwf0t3MwV-Z4WiTkBwYgqMnWTsqkrv0fqM7sU_jP7GwyHnEV_Zevr-JxZrEYue66evxt39_a7gpAOB6aNaMy-MtqV29gQXBWgIlM__eS14taBkSqRpWqLl2YE9cW5VvvuqDmv7DAENPc2VvwfkgutN-Ib1xiRZYtk0cK04Sqeyp507B28/w400-h345/IMG_1317.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLuyeq5IdiO7Jtgt2ET_ryCdTeUK-4BVUi3yXX2lMleoMqi8i_2VfK_qc1ZG2EwzXnQJgX3wfFXYnaTAJTe3dRrnOHiCQXja0Xz-M25ZhyP3MJAWkxP7HHjX9J5DrbKZmsM1Nwv0egiUGa43FjBGPm3rBmTBtFzma9wmTMMe1cNTFUIcW82aq8yStnbZcw/s4032/IMG_1359.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLuyeq5IdiO7Jtgt2ET_ryCdTeUK-4BVUi3yXX2lMleoMqi8i_2VfK_qc1ZG2EwzXnQJgX3wfFXYnaTAJTe3dRrnOHiCQXja0Xz-M25ZhyP3MJAWkxP7HHjX9J5DrbKZmsM1Nwv0egiUGa43FjBGPm3rBmTBtFzma9wmTMMe1cNTFUIcW82aq8yStnbZcw/w300-h400/IMG_1359.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><div>Sometimes it’s hard picking one photo to submit. </div><div><br /></div><div>Thanks for reading and happy new year. </div><div><br /></div><div>Chris</div><div><br /></div>Christine Staverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15411569621417693487noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5009154046558751404.post-77331269144284995202023-12-22T06:32:00.001-05:002023-12-22T06:44:50.816-05:00Things always sneak up on you<p>Even though I just finished all the Christmas gifts I’m starting to think ahead to 2024 and what will happen very quickly. The first thing that will happen is the recycle show in February. This year’s theme is dreamworld. My plans are to make an 18 by 18 piece based on a photo that we took at an outdoor art exhibit near Lennox, Massachusetts a few years ago. It was ghostly figures in a forest. Here’s the photo.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE5nLSrpYBWUJOMth15swyw2NsI4kvM3gRQvs54_R7gMukwmK7Xog7Afm6eO6MokZ3STu2H6XY0vZ9H_XSCa1AINOOm_V3XsC1KYy3N7oizPAPvD_chZD1PsAncu2lIjKJtoCYwXxzV2IsI8P2821ABmUKgVVYyLaF3iea0DSM1EB3w7iw7Ng456Cc2SM7/s4032/IMG_0050.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE5nLSrpYBWUJOMth15swyw2NsI4kvM3gRQvs54_R7gMukwmK7Xog7Afm6eO6MokZ3STu2H6XY0vZ9H_XSCa1AINOOm_V3XsC1KYy3N7oizPAPvD_chZD1PsAncu2lIjKJtoCYwXxzV2IsI8P2821ABmUKgVVYyLaF3iea0DSM1EB3w7iw7Ng456Cc2SM7/w400-h300/IMG_0050.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>I want to do an 18 by 18 piece because that is the canvas that I have. I was going to use it for another project, but it did not work out. I will recycle it for this one. I have edited the photo to make it more dream like. Mine will be lightning bugs in ghost forest. I’ve always loved and been fascinated with lightning bugs.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5yJv3jGkirF2i6_J8tNYIpPSuh5zcDrhvuTdmQP__BV8JYnHBJiK84gtke2dMm0qX4uar1F3dM_c8XPgOrNGVAl2fKy8j2hpc9urNjO2NPbdyjgL7jZPPYzE_PLL9GmY5TFKsma56UYtEVbusYgb9m_VKSKX6bJrZU-LYzzxIpSqLVZQOaV8WR1DS21Nb/s1130/IMG_4884.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1130" data-original-width="1085" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5yJv3jGkirF2i6_J8tNYIpPSuh5zcDrhvuTdmQP__BV8JYnHBJiK84gtke2dMm0qX4uar1F3dM_c8XPgOrNGVAl2fKy8j2hpc9urNjO2NPbdyjgL7jZPPYzE_PLL9GmY5TFKsma56UYtEVbusYgb9m_VKSKX6bJrZU-LYzzxIpSqLVZQOaV8WR1DS21Nb/w384-h400/IMG_4884.jpeg" width="384" /></a></div><div><br /></div>I will use a large piece of plastic for the backing so I can stretch it over the canvas to the back. On top of that I will recycle some of my husband’s jeans for the blue stuff….trees, ground cover, tree canopy. I may have to paint some to get the darker blues. The ghosts will be painted used dryer sheets and the lightning bugs will be French knots. The piece will be stabilized with Pellon 70 stabilizer. At least this is what I have in mind. Of course plans do change. <div><br /></div><div>Here’s the finished and framed piece of my daughter’s house. Sorry about the reflections when I took the photo. My husband came up with the title….”Generations.” The piece represents 3 generations…my dad, me, and my daughter and her fiancé.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwkucNNkzlcuIHHb9xCL7CJs-adRTPpZHf5uePlNEuKiI1zY25UidpTsYw61IyPCE8FgYdVuzbi3BCNahjDwjq2JLVSSLsCe3Sv6gKCM9bAC82h-TdUId24xkwlYLKREKsara1CciYluPSK0qwPjb4oeOgMwklZBkk6QJ-M6v9Xfj9oqKGy9AjycQ0e7jm/s1545/IMG_4871.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1545" data-original-width="1232" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwkucNNkzlcuIHHb9xCL7CJs-adRTPpZHf5uePlNEuKiI1zY25UidpTsYw61IyPCE8FgYdVuzbi3BCNahjDwjq2JLVSSLsCe3Sv6gKCM9bAC82h-TdUId24xkwlYLKREKsara1CciYluPSK0qwPjb4oeOgMwklZBkk6QJ-M6v9Xfj9oqKGy9AjycQ0e7jm/w319-h400/IMG_4871.jpeg" width="319" /></a></div><div><br /><div><br /></div><div>Thanks for reading.</div><div>Chris<br /><p><br /></p></div></div>Christine Staverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15411569621417693487noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5009154046558751404.post-20652031755327391742023-12-15T08:06:00.000-05:002023-12-15T08:06:04.909-05:00It was a lot of handmade gifts this year<p>I finished the vellum quilt of my daughters house. I’m just waiting for the mat and frame to arrive today. I tried to do the siding lines with embroidery floss, but it just looked weird so I decided to machine stitch them. It’s not a great idea to do machine stitching after hand stitching. It was not the best way to do that for sure, but I got it done. I do want to initial it with my initials as well as my dads initials since it was done on a drawing vellum of a house he designed. That’s all the words and numbers that you can see.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqx7i3eYgi9ONAAP3j2LoLretKmFqTd5kyEoGhXAglZRd4tyckQ5hhs-Ich8ZaI0livaEcMEHBSZoYUbC9tily5upcdB1zAws3WRv-m0dWmmlvaH_Z7q3_HJWc-EXLffOjcMKfYRCiqAFboAzvH7_1yqGHrO9subzyeq0hjT_Dso5Qb2m0fwxOGlfaYsnA/s3212/IMG_1287.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3212" data-original-width="2279" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqx7i3eYgi9ONAAP3j2LoLretKmFqTd5kyEoGhXAglZRd4tyckQ5hhs-Ich8ZaI0livaEcMEHBSZoYUbC9tily5upcdB1zAws3WRv-m0dWmmlvaH_Z7q3_HJWc-EXLffOjcMKfYRCiqAFboAzvH7_1yqGHrO9subzyeq0hjT_Dso5Qb2m0fwxOGlfaYsnA/w284-h400/IMG_1287.jpeg" width="284" /></a></div><br /><p>My girlfriend loved the Penn State gnome that I made for her. I have not glued any mice to the pumpkins so our daughter can arrange the mice and pumpkins as she likes. She can put the mice on the pumpkins or in front of them. There is one mouse glued to the witches hat.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgValj6rNPfl2XwGAPOTCLahARMUXIS8enF6VEdP84hzps2h2t39-gCZG3UqO58R94nZHqz5UtrH_PaeYo2r_PekugLpo5vMXFSnhCRMOnwOPo27bOcLahPZMjj0059wfGL7HhQLMoaS_1WeQ3pbKwmb9DP2RmzvRpDoTfB4KwJrbmACHXKZxrNwesuD_2c/s4032/IMG_1260.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgValj6rNPfl2XwGAPOTCLahARMUXIS8enF6VEdP84hzps2h2t39-gCZG3UqO58R94nZHqz5UtrH_PaeYo2r_PekugLpo5vMXFSnhCRMOnwOPo27bOcLahPZMjj0059wfGL7HhQLMoaS_1WeQ3pbKwmb9DP2RmzvRpDoTfB4KwJrbmACHXKZxrNwesuD_2c/w400-h300/IMG_1260.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6ECcFmmfSL28WIrWQEei85Np9x0oXygN95kY4kYd5NPIOan8NI5yjcqTeHqXGFatXa9B9OW_wLN2i1lZqaIFHGcqXq2WwqVJfq7CU5t81evgBrbUVn23cB5MOVxqw7Tm8gJyL5xXYHH_kWUxBRZIvzNqQLt_1P4AHTwyJHaTUUzE7uBHOQJTXKEVtLINz/s4032/IMG_1255.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6ECcFmmfSL28WIrWQEei85Np9x0oXygN95kY4kYd5NPIOan8NI5yjcqTeHqXGFatXa9B9OW_wLN2i1lZqaIFHGcqXq2WwqVJfq7CU5t81evgBrbUVn23cB5MOVxqw7Tm8gJyL5xXYHH_kWUxBRZIvzNqQLt_1P4AHTwyJHaTUUzE7uBHOQJTXKEVtLINz/w300-h400/IMG_1255.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><div>I’ve worked on my daughters house on my dad’s drafting vellum.</div><div><br /></div><div>Here’s the house colored in with markers and intense pencils.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiECglmSgUxwjloqKv5DvVTiS-lUmX4XJUY4ZwCajPuTQZFPey4tlzsxnJB8eA-kHuo0VVK_wx9f7cPbg98n0SMRrppjLUrEALT3sQdmTp3kZKP8Sf2MjT9glGE8v0naMB6mem53QBe5dybJH5FhGIRGEVSGac40TbKqW0a0xWNZW2SfQl37cc3M9mfbs3E/s3520/IMG_1268.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3520" data-original-width="2533" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiECglmSgUxwjloqKv5DvVTiS-lUmX4XJUY4ZwCajPuTQZFPey4tlzsxnJB8eA-kHuo0VVK_wx9f7cPbg98n0SMRrppjLUrEALT3sQdmTp3kZKP8Sf2MjT9glGE8v0naMB6mem53QBe5dybJH5FhGIRGEVSGac40TbKqW0a0xWNZW2SfQl37cc3M9mfbs3E/w288-h400/IMG_1268.jpeg" width="288" /></a></div><br /><div>My first attempt was a failure because I worked it too much and the green intense pencil began to mix in with my dad’s pencil marks which grayed and darkened the color. It’s so cute. I still have one pumpkins and 2 mice to make, but that’s easy. It’s from a <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/1089145561/halloween-gnome-sewing-pattern-pumpkin?transaction_id=3422680893&campaign_label=epp_buyer_order_confirmation_v3_treatment&utm_source=transactional&utm_campaign=epp_buyer_order_confirmation_v3_treatment_010170_1100102541293_0_0&utm_medium=email&utm_content=&email_sent=1675615873&euid=kL1IGjjPoMkb7h7p3cPyMtd-f0m4&eaid=508043880708&x_eaid=2900250b5c">pattern</a> from a seller on Etsy if you are interested. I even made the broom from a twig and pine needles. I’ve felted the wool for the nose.</p><p>Here’s the photos so far.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiB_qqZRENqa8JkzzKQKBq01xJt4KAduXI5yDBsB3rzZIvV0h61tKN2cfFeTIzaoO3pLIahyphenhyphenIi_ruhx_PjWXyHsPr_PHTdv7f5EHnbX-2R1Zv8JmopgPM2igtAshmIs792LT-lMnUQADtO39J0Zr3NBcplif8p_OqeOP3yQNmS-ktwYRK7y2-HKsPAi_u4U/s4032/IMG_1251.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiB_qqZRENqa8JkzzKQKBq01xJt4KAduXI5yDBsB3rzZIvV0h61tKN2cfFeTIzaoO3pLIahyphenhyphenIi_ruhx_PjWXyHsPr_PHTdv7f5EHnbX-2R1Zv8JmopgPM2igtAshmIs792LT-lMnUQADtO39J0Zr3NBcplif8p_OqeOP3yQNmS-ktwYRK7y2-HKsPAi_u4U/w400-h300/IMG_1251.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxRyakw-PVzsr9ibM2y6cIl8invpQGJdDtfTNHKiEWFQtRJys4xqzH1ITwou2xnbJgn1oVikVNXIq8UBLlrmSK8FI5QGan9x-s7p_HZF62u7JWR2U9tEKf-OU8m-j2dukSZhYlZZL72GJX1pXNqWSjWZ8N2f08erlyMRsXt6KwZALtnMU3K0PtrgG5Yfk-/s4032/IMG_1255.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxRyakw-PVzsr9ibM2y6cIl8invpQGJdDtfTNHKiEWFQtRJys4xqzH1ITwou2xnbJgn1oVikVNXIq8UBLlrmSK8FI5QGan9x-s7p_HZF62u7JWR2U9tEKf-OU8m-j2dukSZhYlZZL72GJX1pXNqWSjWZ8N2f08erlyMRsXt6KwZALtnMU3K0PtrgG5Yfk-/w300-h400/IMG_1255.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhW8ifKbmkGsoCke9YnYbdwgumB279_-9ESJj8bpcGFXnf1shjBJDv-rA4Xy27k5CBQFqhFs2oe8gWdobSnHgjgWZVnreveszi3Q4dvnufw2ZiRvVMaSD2ZPFUryzdbbhT0CxIzwCahBHBVPczhA4Xd04r8Jq3ObS5FX1PyUtbPt-mvzf8MRdiDnoWON3e3/s4032/IMG_1258.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhW8ifKbmkGsoCke9YnYbdwgumB279_-9ESJj8bpcGFXnf1shjBJDv-rA4Xy27k5CBQFqhFs2oe8gWdobSnHgjgWZVnreveszi3Q4dvnufw2ZiRvVMaSD2ZPFUryzdbbhT0CxIzwCahBHBVPczhA4Xd04r8Jq3ObS5FX1PyUtbPt-mvzf8MRdiDnoWON3e3/w300-h400/IMG_1258.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><p>That green gray marker that I had high hopes for turned out not to be the green I needed. They have been shipped and should arrive today. While I was waiting for them I decided to do a couple of projects. I stitched a dandelion on a black beret for my daughter for Christmas. She saw one in Salem that she liked so decided to make her one. I bought the beret and just did the stitching. So that’s done. Now I’m working on a Halloween gnome for her.</p><p>Here’s the beret.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV3TCTvfTkx7lKpFs196RaKMYu7LD19kxTS4rM0CvpU9sHYzOV-3f2zjasRph0_1isjP_958VALoU7CMUPgU9ayiH2Vf0Ee2W5p2pqfeTy03iTd49kTjzcJQk9zuxxNzhyyjsqfiaf2XpUz7XipaEdPbIkpVxgkhOXqV1aqrmrtDptZHMULMEvNWE2rwCy/s4032/IMG_1242.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV3TCTvfTkx7lKpFs196RaKMYu7LD19kxTS4rM0CvpU9sHYzOV-3f2zjasRph0_1isjP_958VALoU7CMUPgU9ayiH2Vf0Ee2W5p2pqfeTy03iTd49kTjzcJQk9zuxxNzhyyjsqfiaf2XpUz7XipaEdPbIkpVxgkhOXqV1aqrmrtDptZHMULMEvNWE2rwCy/w300-h400/IMG_1242.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><div><br /></div>I’ve been away and hope to get back to the house creating on Sunday.<div>Thanks for reading.</div><div>Chris<br /><p><br /></p></div>Christine Staverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15411569621417693487noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5009154046558751404.post-11583003785302655632023-11-17T07:20:00.005-05:002023-11-17T09:07:26.183-05:00Decisions, tests, major failures….oh well<p>I picked the photo to work with to make the vellum portrait of my daughter’s house. The vellum is one I have from my father’s drafting vellums.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDzR8XWEdwayf6LqsOvgCN2nzjXiCQcRU_95KS9LakAJbCmPX6GwDVRkSGxLqlDyoG0OElD5sFisEoJpuL4Lw3r4myORhpxhR-FMFgNOOupiThVImqjdk9qKz1jieanaRIeGiy1s2xUHpUkAy6_XRogNib434kTXF3__ZuwOCmvU3kDThyg2JQT4zZrmju/s913/IMG_4813.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="913" data-original-width="624" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDzR8XWEdwayf6LqsOvgCN2nzjXiCQcRU_95KS9LakAJbCmPX6GwDVRkSGxLqlDyoG0OElD5sFisEoJpuL4Lw3r4myORhpxhR-FMFgNOOupiThVImqjdk9qKz1jieanaRIeGiy1s2xUHpUkAy6_XRogNib434kTXF3__ZuwOCmvU3kDThyg2JQT4zZrmju/w274-h400/IMG_4813.jpeg" width="274" /></a></div><br /><p>I drew out a pattern to work with and did a rough coloring in on my iPad.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjr9T_42-nzeuI09ug7PeLogecnRiF0o8FgHFjZjo7QQG0kmeQl8mrjlRigDlNlARWmNRfJlM_xb47eVp1K0ydbsVZCEoX1IitlqSCHVcfaCjMvVuFssQSZocbZF5P7frx-Cs8OF5LwmBmom8WvequtqU0lHeh-TK4Qmqdv_M1_brAbBNbGX2aa0_3jcQLM/s943/IMG_4819.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="943" data-original-width="655" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjr9T_42-nzeuI09ug7PeLogecnRiF0o8FgHFjZjo7QQG0kmeQl8mrjlRigDlNlARWmNRfJlM_xb47eVp1K0ydbsVZCEoX1IitlqSCHVcfaCjMvVuFssQSZocbZF5P7frx-Cs8OF5LwmBmom8WvequtqU0lHeh-TK4Qmqdv_M1_brAbBNbGX2aa0_3jcQLM/w278-h400/IMG_4819.jpeg" width="278" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9in6wg_TYovRjmAWZ5Q5gqS2PQuQbo4SKqrxFm-1xmSH8jQny5dSD0f47sxJ18VBpDD3Or2-qdkVEabxm1s3GxK9zcm0asxmKvfh9EkIwuOUB7DrO-7WqK1L2WhVqA7V1RcpnNTjpc7DD6ugia0cGOZRpogtLhPFT677Z6v1XlFGzwedhGbi0meMK507-/s2402/IMG_4831.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2402" data-original-width="1642" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9in6wg_TYovRjmAWZ5Q5gqS2PQuQbo4SKqrxFm-1xmSH8jQny5dSD0f47sxJ18VBpDD3Or2-qdkVEabxm1s3GxK9zcm0asxmKvfh9EkIwuOUB7DrO-7WqK1L2WhVqA7V1RcpnNTjpc7DD6ugia0cGOZRpogtLhPFT677Z6v1XlFGzwedhGbi0meMK507-/w274-h400/IMG_4831.jpeg" width="274" /></a></div><br /><p>Then I traced it out on the vellum. What a disaster! The sharpie marker mixed in with the Tombow markers. Then my dad’s pencil marking began to blur. Apparently sharpies are not all that water proof. And apparently not all drafting vellums are created equal. The Tombow markers beaded up on this vellum. I tested out several of my dad’s vellums and some must have more of a plastic component. So here’s the disaster.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRHeIqtpnxgQGwNTSgq8iioT-hukHMSknsE_2twLjQBWARa30PHvKVLaf394XDVNKGq5nr5YwTvrHoeYKwXxROHvN9cOWjK6nqZXXCJLoMH98jz2P-6lKK9pF06pkvXigkm9lIJ8bRkse0rIf39F0CQHyXiZjl21SPohGgPREobGC2PzYMlZcwyU6HPs39/s4032/IMG_1236.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRHeIqtpnxgQGwNTSgq8iioT-hukHMSknsE_2twLjQBWARa30PHvKVLaf394XDVNKGq5nr5YwTvrHoeYKwXxROHvN9cOWjK6nqZXXCJLoMH98jz2P-6lKK9pF06pkvXigkm9lIJ8bRkse0rIf39F0CQHyXiZjl21SPohGgPREobGC2PzYMlZcwyU6HPs39/w300-h400/IMG_1236.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><p>That’s a far cry from what I ultimately want to get to.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuEDkHtgkdsuMp_16cGZTZYRnU-vxCgKP0SqE3NNAl7PLPyE54ZhMF62sRSC5k9x2dRtmVmtV2uqpXaBDqMqMMG6Y1pu2_6n3P3e66StHP7QQYd2UsNy2p0_5bEb1xGq9jov6QaTXC37qyYR5X2M6c9i6gZ_bCPZBR_L7MLwKpdqw7ldo4QYixaSL8FHs6/s1016/IMG_4836.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1016" data-original-width="816" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuEDkHtgkdsuMp_16cGZTZYRnU-vxCgKP0SqE3NNAl7PLPyE54ZhMF62sRSC5k9x2dRtmVmtV2uqpXaBDqMqMMG6Y1pu2_6n3P3e66StHP7QQYd2UsNy2p0_5bEb1xGq9jov6QaTXC37qyYR5X2M6c9i6gZ_bCPZBR_L7MLwKpdqw7ldo4QYixaSL8FHs6/w321-h400/IMG_4836.png" width="321" /></a></div><p>I did a trial coloring as well as some trial stitching. I made a nuthatch this week. It’s for our daughter’s fiancé. It’s a running joke about nuthatches so I couldn’t resist making him a nuthatch. I made it from a pattern that I bought on Etsy. <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/218158512/nuthatch-sewing-pattern-pdf-backyard?transaction_id=3787065035&ref=proteus_transaction_link&campaign_label=epp_buyer_order_confirmation_v3_treatment&utm_source=transactional&utm_campaign=epp_buyer_order_confirmation_v3_treatment_010170_1100102541293_0_0&utm_medium=email&utm_content=&email_sent=1698671446&euid=HtGGvW2JGXKGLU5hzKDAYgQGav9M&eaid=508043880708&x_eaid=2900250b5c">Pattern link.</a></p><p>Here are the owls packed in their box for giving to her on Christmas as well as the nuthatch.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuLb6rQR7PnLnV0duu5hqH8hyT56Jc9xaY02B6C6pFS8chbB4swyvemsTH7jwAajxWJGl44y12Gslbv5gkhn_qDNLNWBKRbAiQhAnWG2uk2S6iTv1sBKFnHrFDA7S3qdenTMsFYrKybDV1pe5P-t5HzbZHmBdWkXVHBzNIcexHTnL2qQ5vGwZle6gQsTVD/s2647/IMG_1224.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2647" data-original-width="2529" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuLb6rQR7PnLnV0duu5hqH8hyT56Jc9xaY02B6C6pFS8chbB4swyvemsTH7jwAajxWJGl44y12Gslbv5gkhn_qDNLNWBKRbAiQhAnWG2uk2S6iTv1sBKFnHrFDA7S3qdenTMsFYrKybDV1pe5P-t5HzbZHmBdWkXVHBzNIcexHTnL2qQ5vGwZle6gQsTVD/s320/IMG_1224.jpeg" width="306" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglRCsuAhzNPsfxfBh_S_lsHhJQdMGm8_6DRbs2P8dGLoxE9YYeIksptjltQkPTPDwFml6cfHeinZh60L8QlftWRb4toIqVOzQvsGDWf2nBAbvQ9qeVzo12pmiocyNWgSM-TRWG-z8qys5II9qhpXjPCuK7Q0puCFignpQ1n_2AddUOPgXYkcWz54aZpWDS/s3367/IMG_1225.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="3367" height="287" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglRCsuAhzNPsfxfBh_S_lsHhJQdMGm8_6DRbs2P8dGLoxE9YYeIksptjltQkPTPDwFml6cfHeinZh60L8QlftWRb4toIqVOzQvsGDWf2nBAbvQ9qeVzo12pmiocyNWgSM-TRWG-z8qys5II9qhpXjPCuK7Q0puCFignpQ1n_2AddUOPgXYkcWz54aZpWDS/s320/IMG_1225.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><div><br /></div>I’ve been working on the gift for my girlfriend, but I can’t show that until she receives the gift.<div><br /></div><div>My next project will be to make a “quilt” of my daughter’s 1770 house in Salem, Massachusetts. I have several photos to pick from. I just have to decide which one to work with. I will be making it the same way I did my recycle piece this year from one of my dads drafting vellums. Here’s a link to that piece called “Dad Build Pittsburgh.” <a href="https://chrissquiltinguniverse.blogspot.com/2023/04/i-won-i-won-i-won.html">https://chrissquiltinguniverse.blogspot.com/2023/04/i-won-i-won-i-won.html</a></div><div><br /></div><div>These are the photos I have to pick from. One is a close up view. One is a view of most of the house after they got a new roof and copper gutters. A few show the house from the street that includes the narrow side of the house. The house was moved to its current location so it is perpendicular to the street rather than parallel to the street. I’m ready to go after I make the decision. I have my paint markers, vellum, and thread. </div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinRqJoe8qX_xoTa-cmcst1wRcopH4poOUlXLvnZa52sRZhl4CofFyhRxhyphenhyphenxqmNmR30UsZ-8hbhwrzaCUZy5fbNztsf05AHwM2UNRPaVlNQbIRWcn3J2lhyphenhyphenHUeWYVhTaSLsnM3c1vp628G_z7501KpcKnCiwMBmX_OWU3nqKXBwMKRNhfLQmTGfkuVktgnS/s4032/IMG_0376.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinRqJoe8qX_xoTa-cmcst1wRcopH4poOUlXLvnZa52sRZhl4CofFyhRxhyphenhyphenxqmNmR30UsZ-8hbhwrzaCUZy5fbNztsf05AHwM2UNRPaVlNQbIRWcn3J2lhyphenhyphenHUeWYVhTaSLsnM3c1vp628G_z7501KpcKnCiwMBmX_OWU3nqKXBwMKRNhfLQmTGfkuVktgnS/s320/IMG_0376.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhw_bAXPuUD6Iuix9O7dPDXYUBrUqh0FfvbwkMRrLXEswNfUA-XE9K-t3hRSD6nySeKrgPut-H4J7rFa5I4TeqOirvjWGC9vdTVWQ11kNgpvwme2ttH72hbhkOruuj7WakNEi-AxVlqwUFaxiQ5MVud5GqzL-5J2pTyTltf_4pt2bZgBu3htFXmCNsbONdl/s1494/IMG_4812.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1296" data-original-width="1494" height="278" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhw_bAXPuUD6Iuix9O7dPDXYUBrUqh0FfvbwkMRrLXEswNfUA-XE9K-t3hRSD6nySeKrgPut-H4J7rFa5I4TeqOirvjWGC9vdTVWQ11kNgpvwme2ttH72hbhkOruuj7WakNEi-AxVlqwUFaxiQ5MVud5GqzL-5J2pTyTltf_4pt2bZgBu3htFXmCNsbONdl/s320/IMG_4812.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiB6laHEUC3kRjV4Osttwl9Chxi9gKtrHlMs4P-qJE2dowJzTKNpdxxTrB1wpF9B30Ia_xJ9MvxkPtU84aVAiiWogkpu5uehJ0OEg39WSbcq_q3yuEepsF7fmI4fG1Kn4-f70g9Z8Z5z3LAQQiPSnrJb0Yepy_imyZzyjmx8emge8ni1jUX4w63sJAIEWE1/s824/IMG_4813.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="824" data-original-width="633" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiB6laHEUC3kRjV4Osttwl9Chxi9gKtrHlMs4P-qJE2dowJzTKNpdxxTrB1wpF9B30Ia_xJ9MvxkPtU84aVAiiWogkpu5uehJ0OEg39WSbcq_q3yuEepsF7fmI4fG1Kn4-f70g9Z8Z5z3LAQQiPSnrJb0Yepy_imyZzyjmx8emge8ni1jUX4w63sJAIEWE1/s320/IMG_4813.jpeg" width="246" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjubbDGsw8y_0MZdoK-AdNMUtF3VcLQGG1iXDhq_ZHYkR6gekHheYzU8U-b3l8C7ZHXVh0iwpPjqhMqhSZmVPifLMwJhEAa7052aShA73z8KL_lkXxzJq6SuQiLt8TK28Tirs2S3p00fxrfWHCMDMjzbrPgYTWOWaAdtJQ8-LrQoCBZQhnt95bwELl6TcK/s2476/IMG_4816.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1941" data-original-width="2476" height="251" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjubbDGsw8y_0MZdoK-AdNMUtF3VcLQGG1iXDhq_ZHYkR6gekHheYzU8U-b3l8C7ZHXVh0iwpPjqhMqhSZmVPifLMwJhEAa7052aShA73z8KL_lkXxzJq6SuQiLt8TK28Tirs2S3p00fxrfWHCMDMjzbrPgYTWOWaAdtJQ8-LrQoCBZQhnt95bwELl6TcK/s320/IMG_4816.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div>Thanks for reading. </div><div>L Chris</div><div><br /></div><div><br /><p><br /></p></div>Christine Staverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15411569621417693487noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5009154046558751404.post-67836133956559899502023-11-01T15:51:00.004-04:002023-11-01T15:53:22.430-04:00Changing gear<p>I fell while we were in Ireland and am still healing from that misstep. I’m still too sore to work on the Boston quilt so I decided to start working on the Christmas ornaments for our daughter. After last year’s adventure of creating 6 ornaments I was pretty burned out and decided I would work from a pattern this year. Last year I made these 6 ornaments. <a href="https://chrissquiltinguniverse.blogspot.com/2022/12/christmas-is-nearly-here.html">https://chrissquiltinguniverse.blogspot.com/2022/12/christmas-is-nearly-here.html</a> The ornaments last year were original ornaments. I had to create the pattern for them. </p><p>I’ve made 4 owls so far and still have a nuthatch to make. They are pretty cute and are about 3.5 to 4 inches tall. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3iKyqwsAJsosVu0yf_WSRjhJSFs-DRUim5PBE1cs0OI7qVI9VXF12RI3gVCCaGEvZ2GK08i7cvFYvH6AOOjHqv3RVv-UyE-Mbf8WHJ_Sajx6-HX-94Ko79q34TG9edOpCXOe34MI2yEn043El8ebbCRUMPGYLlzCeZQrZ8utUitgBxH7MufRWLhvnopIP/s4032/IMG_1219.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3iKyqwsAJsosVu0yf_WSRjhJSFs-DRUim5PBE1cs0OI7qVI9VXF12RI3gVCCaGEvZ2GK08i7cvFYvH6AOOjHqv3RVv-UyE-Mbf8WHJ_Sajx6-HX-94Ko79q34TG9edOpCXOe34MI2yEn043El8ebbCRUMPGYLlzCeZQrZ8utUitgBxH7MufRWLhvnopIP/w400-h300/IMG_1219.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>Here’s a link to the pattern for the owls. I bought it on Etsy.</p><p><a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/687799243/buy-3-get-1-free-owl-brooch-ornaments?transaction_id=3327380924&campaign_label=epp_buyer_order_confirmation_v3_treatment&utm_source=transactional&utm_campaign=epp_buyer_order_confirmation_v3_treatment_010170_1100102541293_0_0&utm_medium=email&utm_content=&email_sent=1670446011&euid=3RehnB_Xr1G6r4DBzM9SeWnR2du5&eaid=508043880708&x_eaid=2900250b5c">Pattern</a></p><p>As I’ve been making these I’ve kinda regretted that I did not create my own ornaments again this year. I think I really enjoy that challenge. I already have an idea for next year. So the challenge will return in 2024.</p><p>Thanks for reading.</p><p>Chris </p><p></p>Christine Staverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15411569621417693487noreply@blogger.com3
