Design Wall Monday

I got a lot of cutting done last Friday and started to put some blocks together. I have never done a “blended” quilt before so I am struggling a bit in terms of how much contrast you should have in each block.

I have sewn some of the blocks together, but have a ways to go yet.  The blocks are not in their final location on the quilt yet.

  1. Chris, I think it is looking good. Blending is not as easy as it looks. Within each block, create some with less contrast and some with more ---just like you have done. When you place them in the quilt, you also need to blend. To explain--if you have a lot of red on the edge that will be the seam, blend it to the next one with red on the edge. Basically, you fool the eye into NOT seeing the join or seam line. That creates the movement in the quilt. Keep at it, can't wait to see the result.

  2. Good to see you back blogging. I like what you've done with the blended quilt so far. Debbie's comments make a lot of sense to me.
