What happened this week

I managed to get the interior of my stained glass scrap quilt completely pieced. Now I just have to cut off the diamonds at the edges to make it square. That's always a lot of fun! Meanwhile I heard back from Cherrywood fabrics and they are sending me a piece of fabric that matches the sashing in the quilt. It should arrive today. I've been soaking the backing fabric and will have to do that with the Cherrywood fabric as well.

This week I took a live online gelli printing class on Zoom which worked out really well.

The class continues for 2 more weeks and then I will take a second class on creating a journal from the prints.

I keep forgetting to mention the baby ducklings we rescued on Penn State's campus about 2 weeks ago. It's a long story with my husband and some other guy doing the rescue. The mother had nested in a safe spot, but the ducklings couldn't get out of it.

Here are some photos of the ducklings in a box and after they were reunited with their mother in a pond. There were 12 of them!

Last print

I finished my reduction print class yesterday. This is the best of the prints I made. Some of the others I did not get lined up very well. At any rate I think I like collagraph printing better.

Lots of cancellations due to the corona virus.

• Bus trip to Lancaster quilt show
• At least the first of the 4 sessions of my upcoming art quilt class
• The NYC St. Patrick's parade
• Other Olli classes that I am taking

I am so glad we did not plan any trips yet this year.

So it will be a good time to stay inside and work on a quilt.

My scraps are ready to cut into strips for my scrap stained glass class. We could vary the width of the strips, but I don't want to cut them until I know how we are going to sew them together. I find that out this week.

A couple of things going on

I have been taking a couple of printing classes.

I took a Collagraph printing class for 2 weeks.

Here are my prints from that class...

This week I started a 3 color reduction printing class.

Here is one print. I still have black to print which will finish the tree. I’m not sure, but I think I liked the Collagraph printing better. The only trouble is you need a press to print the image.

In addition to the printing I decided to take a scrap quilt class from Elizabeth Barton. This scrap class is to make a stained glass scrap quilt. I am going to make this pretty big to use up as many scraps as I can.

Here are my scraps so far. Still going through my stash to find more scraps.

Monoprinting class

I took a monoprinting class last Friday. The teacher was great and the class was a lot of fun. By the time I got my paints there were not that many choices. I ended up with blues and orange. Of course I do like blue and orange. 

Here I am at work. The teacher took the photo and it's a little blurry. I was so focused on what I was doing that I did not even notice she was taking the photo.

Also here are my prints. Some of them look like I am planning a fabric line! I need to get out my gelliplate and print some fabrics after getting motivated by this class.
