I have been taking a couple of printing classes.
I took a Collagraph printing class for 2 weeks.
Here are my prints from that class...
These were made by gluing paper to the plate |
The collagraph plate |
This one was created by cutting away at the plate |
A failure! |
This week I started a 3 color reduction printing class.
Here
is one print. I still have black to print which will finish the tree.
I’m not sure, but I think I liked the Collagraph printing better. The only trouble is you need a press to print the image.
Here are my scraps so far. Still going through my stash to find more scraps.
I love the collagraph printing. I've never seen that before, but it looks so cool!
ReplyDeleteI think it's great that you are taking that print class. I don't really understand what collagraph printing is compared to other types of printing, and so it was surprising to read that the first ones were done by sticking pieces of paper to the plate. I like those a lot and seem very "you". No printing press, huh? I was just running through my saves on FB and came across a link for making a printing press out of a panini press! Where there's a will there's a way I guess.
ReplyDeleteI saw Elizabeth's post about scrap quilts. Although tempting since I like the stained glass effect, I just can't get myself into that kind of a project right now. Thoroughly immersed in my bookmaking and filling. That first set of fabrics really appeals to me.
