The 4 cute owls that I posted about last week were not the end of ornament making for 2023. I made a nuthatch this week. It’s for our daughter’s fiancé. It’s a running joke about nuthatches so I couldn’t resist making him a nuthatch. I made it from a pattern that I bought on Etsy. Pattern link.
Here are the owls packed in their box for giving to her on Christmas as well as the nuthatch.
My next project will be to make a “quilt” of my daughter’s 1770 house in Salem, Massachusetts. I have several photos to pick from. I just have to decide which one to work with. I will be making it the same way I did my recycle piece this year from one of my dads drafting vellums. Here’s a link to that piece called “Dad Build Pittsburgh.” https://chrissquiltinguniverse.blogspot.com/2023/04/i-won-i-won-i-won.html
These are the photos I have to pick from. One is a close up view. One is a view of most of the house after they got a new roof and copper gutters. A few show the house from the street that includes the narrow side of the house. The house was moved to its current location so it is perpendicular to the street rather than parallel to the street. I’m ready to go after I make the decision. I have my paint markers, vellum, and thread.
Thanks for reading.

What cute ornaments! I particularly love the nuthatch; we have them in these parts too -- and they over-winter, so are in and around my feeders with jays, sparrows and chickadees. And what a lovely home your daughter has. It'll be a challenge to reproduce in quilting, but I know you're up for it!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful renditions of lovely birds. I'm especially fond of owls -not often I get to write that sentence, :)
