I have been thinking of teaching a different class than my usual Making a quilt from a photo. I thought about my fascination with old windows and doors. Well actually I thought about windows and Sheila of the Idaho Beauty blog gave me the idea of teaching a class on windows and then one on doors. These classes would not happen until next fall. And I would actually have to make some small quilts before then. Right now small sounds like a wonderful concept.
When I started looking through my files I realized that I've made several small window quilts, but only one door quilt.

I added a tab at the top of the blog for the window quilts that I've made. Most of them I no longer own. So once I get through the Boston quilt I want to make a bunch of small window and door quilts. I have plenty of photos for inspiration. I've collected them for quite a while.
So where is the Boston quilt this week? At this point I have done most of the orange windows. It has been slow progress. It's not because it is hard, but that I am pretty burned out on this quilt. I go up to my sewing room and do a few windows and then take a break. That's not normally how I work, but that's how it's going with this one at this point in the process. I accept that for what it is.
Last weekend we went to visit our daughter in Salem, Massachusetts for Halloween. It was amazing. The weather was great, the decorated houses were amazing, and the crowds were huge. We had a good time. Here’s one of her windows decorated with a character called the Beast.
If you lived in central Pennsylvania would you take a class on making an art quilt of old windows or doors from me?
Thanks for reading. Linking to Nina-Marie.

Boy are you brave, touring Salem on Halloween weekend. Great window for your potential class. I see your daughter inherited your creative genes.
ReplyDeleteHi Chris, I love your door and windows quilt. That could make very interesting classes. Salem at Halloween sounds like a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteVisions Past is my fav of the window quilts. A few orange windows a day and eventually it will be done. I can truly understand the burn out; it's exhausting making so many decisions. Soldier On!
ReplyDeleteYour eye for detail is *phenomenal*!!
ReplyDeleteLove the old wooden door with the red lock! So much depth and holds a story!
