I finally got the Halloween quilt back out and have spent sometime quilting some of the pumpkins. After much trial and error I decided to stitch them with a dark maroon thread.
The quilt is covered in batting fuzz!
My daughter got me a membership in Skillshare for Mother’s Day. Lots of classes to explore on their website and app. I guess I’ll be expanding my mind some more..
Ah yes, batting fuzz. That is one of the reasons long long ago I realized the advisability of taking the extra step of turning the backing over to the front such that it covers any exposed batting. Yes, that means cutting the backing a bit bigger than the batting. And yes that means an extra step of either hand basting or pin basting it in place. But it makes a nice neat package with "handles" all around to grab onto while quilting and also keeps a loose batting from folding back under the quilt and inadvertently getting stitched in. Yes, That happened more than once before I realized the extra time to secure the batting to the front was absolutely worth it. Good thread choice. :-)
