I have taken plenty of classes that were not quilting classes over the years to have fun and expand my mind. In fact I have one coming up in June that has nothing to do with quilting. It’s one on eco-printing. https://artallianceofcentralpa.org/products/eco-printing-bookbinding
I have never printed with leaves and plants before. I have done normal fabric dyeing as well as rust dyeing. The rust dyeing definitely produces some interesting results. I have used several of the rust dyed fabrics in quilts.

Do you take classes to expand your mind? What kinds of classes do you take?
Thanks for reading.

The only art/craft classes I've taken are online ones; book binding and journal making. They have served me well for my paper crafting hobby...

I've always been very selective about the classes I'm willing to pay for and/or spend time on, because I've always been one to teach myself from the vast resources available in books and magazines. But there will be a few things that I look at and know I will need help figuring out, like making Mariner compass blocks. And yes, it is great fun to take a class outside my quilting interests. The best was a basket weaving class where, in spite of loving the basket I made, now had a better appreciation for those who do it for a living - worth every penny they charge! Also really enjoyed a beginner's sketching class. Yes, had dabbled a bit in sketching but really knew nothing about the kind of paper and pencils to use and so much more. It was the perfect starter class for someone like me who did not have aspirations to make drawings for sale or even as gifts. I've also more recently taken advantage of free lessons such as provided by Sketchbook Revival to learn more about painting, collage and mixed media. Anymore, I seldom see a class that really interests me; I think I've learned the basics of most that I want to do and now just need to practice what I've learned! I think you will love the eco printing and its results.
