I have been thinking about what fabrics to use for the brownstone almost non stop. That's the way I am when I'm dealing with a problem to solve. When I was in college and working on some really difficult physics problems I would even come up with the solution to the problems while sleeping. Imagine dreaming the solution! Unfortunately that doesn't seem to happen with my quilting problems.
I think I need to use both the red violet and blue/blue violet fabrics for the 2 brownstones. I think it's better with the red violet on the inside and the blue fabrics on the outside. Also I think I need to make the brownstones darker as I move from top to bottom of the quilt.
This is a rough idea of what I'm thinking. That has 3 red violets and 2 blue/blue violet fabrics. I guess I won't really know until I start rough cutting the brownstones. Maybe I need another even darker blue/blue violet at the bottom. But then again it all hinges on what I use for windows and trim.
Well those are my thoughts for today. Tomorrow might be different!
Thanks for reading.

Your sense of color and value is a treat to observe.
ReplyDeleteI think you are on the right track especially concerning going darker in value as you move down the quilt.
